Jacksonville food truck Lasa Taste of Philippines Cuisine will provide free meals for children attending a Nov. 1 parol-making workshop at Resurrection Catholic Church as part of its third-anniversary celebration.

Lasa Taste of Philippines Cuisine will provide free meals for children attending a Nov. 1 parol-making workshop at Resurrection Catholic Church as part of its third-anniversary celebration.

Owners Edwin and Sophia Galang announced the sponsorship as a way to thank the community that has supported their Filipino food truck.

“We couldn’t have made it this far without our amazing community!” the owners said in a Facebook announcement. “To celebrate this milestone, we wanted to give back in a meaningful way.”

Organized by the church’s Filipino Ministry, the workshop will take place after the 11 a.m. Mass in the parish hall at 3383 University Blvd. N. in Jacksonville. Children will learn to craft parols, traditional Filipino Christmas lanterns.

The event invites participants to “celebrate our Filipino tradition” and “share the light of Christ this Christmas.”

The Galangs’ food truck serves Filipino favorites, including crispy pata, lechon kawali, sisig, barbecue skewers, pancit and lumpia. Weekend specials include beef pares, crispy kare-kare and chicken inasal.

Lasa posts a weekly schedule so customers can find the truck at its scheduled stops.

“Thank you for three years of amazing support,” the owners said. “Let’s make this year the best one yet!”
