Tony Award-winning actress and singer Nicole Scherzinger has been selected for the Hollywood Walk of Fame Class of 2027 following a nomination from the Manila International Film Festival, organizers announced.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce confirmed Scherzinger’s inclusion July 23 in the Live Theatre/Live Performance category, recognizing her achievements in music and stage. The Manila International Film Festival (MIFF), a Los Angeles-based event that highlights Philippine and diaspora cinema, formally backed her nomination.
In a video message shared with MIFF, Scherzinger expressed gratitude for the support.
“Mabuhay. Hello, it’s Nicole Scherzinger here, and I just want to give a special shout-out to the Manila International Film Festival,” she said. “Thank you so much for helping me to get my star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. This is a dream come true for me.”
She also highlighted her heritage, adding that she is “so proud to be of Hawaiian, Ukrainian, Filipina descent” and to represent Filipino talent globally.
MIFF Executive Producer Lisa Lew said Scherzinger’s selection reflects both artistic excellence and cultural representation.
“Nicole Scherzinger has reached the highest levels of music and theater while proudly representing her Filipino heritage on the global stage,” Lew said. “Her selection sends a powerful message to young Filipino performers everywhere that their stories and voices belong in Hollywood.”
Scherzinger won the 2025 Tony Award for best actress in a musical for her performance as Norma Desmond in the Broadway revival of “Sunset Blvd.,” following an Olivier Award-winning run in London’s West End. She first rose to international fame as the lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls, known for hits such as “Don’t Cha” and “Buttons.”
Her career spans music, theater, film and television, including voice work as Sina in Disney’s “Moana” franchise and appearances on shows such as “The X Factor (UK),” “Australia’s Got Talent,” “The Masked Singer” and Netflix’s “Building the Band.”
Comedian Jo Koy, another Filipino American performer, was also named to the Walk of Fame Class of 2027 in the same category. He previously participated in MIFF in support of the documentary “Nurse Unseen,” an official selection of the 2025 festival.
The announcement follows MIFF’s earlier nomination of Broadway star Lea Salonga, who is set to become the first Filipina to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Salonga will also receive the MIFF Icon Award at the festival’s Closing Night Awards Gala on Sept. 6.
The 2026 Manila International Film Festival is scheduled for Sept. 3-5 at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, featuring film screenings, filmmaker question-and-answer sessions and industry events. The festival will conclude with its Closing Night Awards Gala at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.
Since launching in 2024, MIFF has showcased more than 20 films and honored artists including Boots Anson Roa, Dingdong Dantes, Piolo Pascual, Tia Carrere and Vilma Santos. The festival has also received five Telly Awards, including Silver honors for directing, diversity and live events.
More information about the festival is available at ManilaInternationalFilmFest.
Lisa Lew and the Manila International Film Festival are previous TOFA Awards honorees, recognized in New York in 2022 and in Las Vegas in 2025.
