TOFA honoree Bianca Nicole “Nikki” Nepales, a leading diversity, equity and inclusion executive in Hollywood, recently married Samrat Jeyaprakash in a ceremony in India, marking a new chapter in the life of a Filipina American who has built a career advancing representation on and off screen.

Nepales has held key leadership roles in entertainment and education, including serving as vice president of diversity, equity and inclusion at Lionsgate. In that post, she worked across the company’s film and television divisions to expand opportunities for underrepresented creatives and to support more inclusive storytelling. She has also served as a special adviser for industries and impact at UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television, where she helped connect industry practice with equity-focused initiatives.

A sought-after speaker, Nepales has been featured on panels and keynotes at major events, including global industry gatherings and Filipina women’s leadership forums. Her talks frequently center on Asian and female representation, the dismantling of the “model minority” myth and the importance of structural change in entertainment.

Nepales is the daughter of Hollywood journalists Janet Nepales and Ruben Nepales (both former TOFA awardees and longtime board members) and grew up immersed in the world of film and media. She has used that background to bridge communities — from classrooms and advocacy spaces to studios and red carpets.

In 2019, she received an Innovator Award from TOFA during its ninth annual ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York, held in conjunction with Filipino American History Month. She was recognized then for her work as director of impact in schools and community at Teach for America Los Angeles, where she focused on educational equity and community partnerships.

Nepales later returned to TOFA as a keynote speaker at the 2025 TOFA gala in Las Vegas, reflecting her continued influence as a thought leader on inclusion and representation.
