For Linda Ramos Ravenscroft, caring for older adults and people with special needs is both a profession and a calling.
Ravenscroft is the executive director and owner of Capitol Home Health Inc. and Capitol Home Care Services International, a family-owned home-care agency in Fall River, Mass.
The agency has provided caregiving services to families in Southeastern Massachusetts and Cape Cod for more than 25 years. Its services include skilled home-care nursing, certified home health and nurse aides, dementia-focused care, live-in and overnight services, therapeutic massage and multilingual support.
For Ravenscroft, the work is rooted in respect for people who need care and support to remain safe and independent at home.
“Our elders and those with special needs are not merely recipients of care,” she told tofanews.com. “They are the very hands that shaped America, lifting our yesteryears into a better, brighter today.”
She said that perspective guides her work with clients, families and caregivers. Capitol Home Care Services International says it provides personal care, companion care and assistance with daily activities, including meal preparation, transportation, medication reminders, grooming, housekeeping and mobility support. The agency serves Barnstable, Bristol and Plymouth counties.
Ravenscroft said her Catholic faith informs both her work in health care and her charitable service. More than two decades ago, she founded the God the Father Apostolate prayer group in New England. The group is expected to mark its 22nd anniversary in October.
Her faith work and philanthropy extend beyond Massachusetts, she said. Ravenscroft supports volunteer and charitable efforts for children with disabilities and other vulnerable children in Rwanda and Nigeria. In the Philippines, she supports a children’s foundation in Cebu in collaboration with parish priest Father Leonard.
She also described a spiritual connection with the Franciscan and La Salle congregations, Mary Queen of Heaven Monastery and the Spanish Youth Apostolate.
Ravenscroft’s ministry has taken her from Simi Valley, California, to Boston and Maine, as well as New York City. There, she works with Tita and Rudy Fernandez to help sustain the God the Father Apostolate in Astoria and support San Lorenzo Ruiz chapters in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens.
For Ravenscroft, professional leadership, faith and community service are inseparable.
“Protecting those who need care is not just a duty,” she said. “It is a sacred privilege.”
