The SexBomb Girls, whose songs and dance routines helped define Philippine pop culture in the early 2000s, will bring their “Get, Get Aw!” U.S. tour to Colden Auditorium at Queens College, 153-49 Reeves Ave. in Flushing, on Sunday, Oct. 4.
The 8 p.m. concert will be held at the Kupferberg Center for the Arts. It had originally been scheduled for July 19 and was moved to Oct. 4. The show will be performed in English and Tagalog. Tickets available through Ticketmaster range from $98 to $250, excluding fees.
For a generation of Filipinos, the group’s name immediately recalls the chant “Get, get, aww!” and the dance craze built around “Spaghetti Song,” officially titled “The Spageti Song.” The number, along with “Bakit Papa?” and the group’s brisk, high-energy choreography, moved from television screens into school programs, parties and community gatherings across the Philippines.
Formed in 1999 by choreographer Joy Cancio, the SexBomb Girls first appeared as dancers on the long-running noontime program “Eat Bulaga!” Their routines on the show’s “Laban o Bawi” segment gave them a national platform. The group later moved from backing dancers to recording artists and actors, becoming one of the country’s most visible all-female pop acts of the decade.

Their early albums produced multiplatinum hits, and their popularity crossed into television. The group starred in “Daisy Siete,” the GMA Network drama series that ran for 26 seasons from 2003 to 2010. The show gave viewers a different way to see performers who were already familiar for their dance routines and novelty pop songs.
The current tour follows the group’s reunion concerts in the Philippines, where original members returned to perform together after years of individual pursuits in entertainment, business and family life. Group leader Rochelle Pangilinan has said the performers have been grateful for the response from Filipino communities during the U.S. leg.
The New York stop is part of the continuing “Get, Get Aw!” reunion world tour, which began with international dates in Australia and has included U.S. cities. The group is scheduled to perform in Washington on Oct. 1 before arriving in Queens.
The concert is presented by EKG Productions. For last-minute group ticket inquiries and discounts in New York, contact Myrna Gutierrez of Upstream at 917-734-1723.
For Filipino fans who learned the choreography in front of a television or sang along at family gatherings, the Queens concert offers a chance to hear the songs live — and perhaps answer the familiar call one more time: “Get, get, aww!”
