Filipino American fashion designer Veejay Floresca married her longtime partner Friday, Aug. 14, in a celebration that placed her signature bridal craftsmanship at the center of the day.
Floresca confirmed the wedding through social-media posts featuring photos from the ceremony and reception. She wore a custom ceremony gown and an after-party dress by her namesake label. Her husband wore a bespoke suit by Veejay Floresca, while her mother wore a beaded red gown designed by Floresca.
“I have always envisioned myself wearing a beautiful, timeless, and classic gown on my wedding day,” Floresca wrote in one post.
The wedding was held at Celestine in Brooklyn. Mariela Hill officiated the ceremony, while Imogene Raypon handled Floresca’s hair and makeup. Kristina of Maganda Visuals photographed the celebration.
Floresca said rain fell during the week leading up to the wedding, but the weather cleared for the ceremony.
“It was raining that week and I asked God to gave us the perfect weather and He did!” she wrote. “The best day!”
She thanked the guests who joined the celebration and said more photographs and a video by Cao Vi Sekun’s Collection would be shared later.
The wedding follows Floresca’s January engagement announcement, when she shared the news with photos of the couple on social media.
The designer was born and raised in the Philippines and earned a degree in fashion design and merchandising from De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde. She later received a master’s degree in fashion from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco and studied bridal wear design at Central Saint Martins in London.
Her work has focused on made-to-order bridal and eveningwear, an expertise showcased in the couple’s wedding wardrobe. Floresca is now based in New York City, where she operates her fashion label.
Floresca became a breakout name in fashion after winning Season 21 of “Project Runway.” The win made her the competition’s first Filipino American and transgender woman champion, a milestone she described as a celebration of authenticity.
Before winning the U.S. competition, Floresca was a finalist on the first season of “Project Runway Philippines.” She said her fashion aesthetic draws on her Filipino heritage, blending natural Filipino fabrics and embroidery with contemporary and minimalist design.
