Filipino American Cancer Care will bring together cancer survivors, families, advocates, donors and community supporters for its Fashion for Hope & Courage Charity Gala on Oct. 31, an annual fundraising event that provides financial assistance to cancer patients facing some of life’s most difficult challenges.

The gala begins at 4 p.m. at the Magnoliya Grand Conference and Event Center in Manassas, Va.

For cancer patients and their families, a diagnosis brings more than medical decisions. It can disrupt finances, routines and a family’s sense of certainty. FACC’s gala is intended to turn community support into practical assistance for people navigating treatment, recovery and the costs that often accompany both.

FACC’s annual gala blends fashion, entertainment, community fellowship and philanthropy. It honors cancer survivors, remembers those lost to the disease and raises funds for patients who need financial support during treatment.

The event takes place during Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Filipino American History Month, providing an opportunity to celebrate resilience while supporting an organization created to address gaps in cancer care and patient support.

FACC was established in March 2020 to assist Filipinos, Filipino Americans and other medically underserved people affected by cancer in the United States, the Philippines and elsewhere. Its work includes advocacy, education, prevention and screening awareness, patient resources and direct financial assistance.

The organization was founded by Josie Moralidad Ziman, a broadcast journalist, author and breast cancer survivor. Following her own breast cancer diagnosis in 2018 and multiple surgeries, Ziman and fellow advocates saw a need for a community-based organization that could respond to the practical and emotional challenges facing cancer patients and their families.

For FACC, business sponsorships help fund the organization’s ability to assist patients who may be managing treatment costs, lost income, transportation needs and other expenses that can accompany a cancer diagnosis.

FACC is accepting sponsors and vendors for the Fashion for Hope & Courage Charity Gala. Tickets are $150, with proceeds supporting the organization’s financial-assistance and cancer-support programs. Tickets are available through the FACC gala page. Those interested in sponsorships, vendor booths or tickets may call or text 571-352-0165 or email info@filamcancercare.org.

Every ticket, sponsorship and donation helps FACC provide tangible support to cancer patients and their families.
